Patrick J. Beehler


Mr. Beehler has over 50 years of experience as a Land Surveyor, both in the public and the private sector.

He began his surveying career in 1967 with the Department of Natural Resources on a survey crew retracing and restoring General Land Office corners and subdivisions of sections. While at DNR in 1976, he was the right-of-way manager in the Aquatic Lands Division, processing and issuing permits for the use of state owned aquatic lands. He was employed in private practice conducting boundary, construction, and engineering design surveys for engineering and surveying firms in southwest Washington. He received his Professional Land Surveyor’s License in 1978.

He worked for six years at the Tumwater Public Works Department. He left the City in 1990 and returned to private practice to manage the survey department at Skillings & Chamberlain Engineers, Inc. in Lacey, Washington. In 1992 he purchased W.F. Kroger & Associates. He renamed and incorporated as Southwest Surveying, Inc. in January of 1994. Pat sold his surveying business to W&H Pacific and was employed as the Director of Surveying for the Olympia office. When the Olympia office of WHPacific closed, Pat went to work for David Evans & Associates in their Olympia office. In August of 2013 Mr. Beehler returned to the Washington State Department of Natural Resources as the State Surveyor responsible for the overall management of the statewide land surveying practices of the department, where is currently employed.

He was the President of the Land Surveyors Association of Washington (LSAW) 1997 - 1998. He served as the President of the National Society of Professional Surveyors (NSPS) in 2008 - 2009.
